On Facebook Applications

You know, the ones that say "invite 10 people to find out the results of your quiz!" Normally, with quizzes this isn't so bad, because most people aren't going to respond to your invitation. But what happens when you come to something actually fun? Isn't there a limited number of people that can be invited?

I mean, suppose person A invites person B, who then in turn invites person C. This goes on and on. The number of people on the Earth is not infinite, now, is it? Who does the 6,500,000,000th person invite? Do they just not get to play the game? Isn't this discrimination by whoever sees the opportunity first?

It's just like a pyramid scheme. For those unfamiliar or unsure of what I'm talking about, Person A gets persons B, C, and D to contribute $100 into a business project, and gets $50 in kickbacks. Then each of them gets three more people in, who contribute $100 each, for $900. Person A gets a $25 kickback, because they were less directly involved--still a nice sum of $225. Persons B, C, and D get $100 for each person brought into the scheme. If you extend this pyramid to infinity, everyone makes money--but there isn't an infinite number of people on the planet. Someone eventually loses $100 they don't make back. And going by the shape of the pyramid, there are a lot more people who lose $100 than who get rich.

I guess I'm trying to say it's ridiculous. There. Now I want in!

Swimming?

So I'm at a swim meet. (Which means that this is obviously a dream.) I don't remember what happened, except that stuff happened. At one point, I start wandering around the building, into a boiler room whose floor is far below the main floor, making it ideal for a Bond movie.

Anyways, to the part I remember. I'm leaving the building. As I had not been near the pool when it ended, I had a considerable head start on leaving and avoiding the traffic jam. I make it to the door, which approaches a truck dock, except 15-20 feet off the ground, and it's a real door. There's a staircase with wheels attached to the door.

I step onto the stairs, when my momentum causes the entire staircase to move. Afraid to fall between the cracks, I throw myself onto the top of the stairs, pushing it even further. The ground is covered in ice and snow. It's nighttime. The staircase keeps moving until it hits a wall a short distance across from the door, which is part of the same building.

Then at this point, the stairs, likely because of something I did, turn 90 degrees and head out into the parking lot. I'm cruising between the cars, when the bottom of the structure hits a snowbank, causing the top to fall over. I'm at the top, thinking "am I going to die?" I hit the ground, landing on my left arm (between my body and the pavement). I'm pleasantly surprised to learn that my arm isn't broken.

I then turn around to notice a large crowd forming at the door I left behind. As I had taken the stairs, they were stuck. I began to push the stairs back, but before I got there, guys dressed in those orange vests and others had lined up vans below the door, and had formed a rescue chain.

Then I woke up.
